Glossary of Internet Marketing Terms
Affiliate Link
An URL that you use to provide a link to your affiliate partner's web site. This special URL usually contains some sort of code or username
that identifies you to your affiliate partner, so you can get your commission from the sale.
Affiliate Marketing
This is an Internet Marketing strategy where you advertise products or services for other people.
When someone uses your affiliate link to purchase something from your affiliate partner, you get a small commission
as a reward for generating a sale. Signing up for affiliate programs is easy and free. Simply do a search on Google
for products or services that are in your niche, and check out some web sites. If a company provides an affiliate program, there will be
a way to sign up on their web site.
Many of the web sites I link to from my tutorial are affiliate partners. For example, if you click on my Host Gator link
and sign up for Host Gator, I get a commission. That's how I make money from this web site. My affiliate partners are
all services that I use myself so I know they are trustworthy and good for you to use.
Affiliate Partner
This is the company whose affiliate program you are signed up for.
Auto Responder
An auto responder is an e-mail address that automatically replies with a pre-written message to anyone who sends mail to it. There
are two types of auto responders: basic and follow-up. A basic auto responder only sends back one message. A follow-up auto responder will
send a series of messages over a period of several days, weeks, or months.
Auto responders are a common tool of Internet Marketers. They can be used to follow up with customers after a sale, or
as a way to create an automated mailing list to keep customers coming back to your site again and again.
Kevin J. Rohan's FREE Internet Marketing Boot Camp teaches you how to
set up your auto responder and use it effectively. And if you sign up for web hosting with Host Gator, you'll get free unlimited auto responders
included as part of your hosting package.
E-Books
An e-book is a book in electronic format. There are two types of e-books: PDF files and EXE files. PDF files can be opened up
with the FREE Adobe Acrobat Reader, a very common software program that comes pre-installed on most computers. EXE e-books often
have more interactivity and special features than plain vanilla PDF documents. E-books are one of the most common information products
sold by Internet Marketing web sites.
Information Products
Information products are simply that: information. For Internet Marketing purposes, information products are usually in digital
format, such as e-books, how to guides, web site memberships, online classes/tutorials, audio interviews, live web seminars, etc.
These kinds of products are very easy to sell online because you can avoid the hassle of actually having to physically ship something
to the customer. The whole purchasing and delivery process can be automated so you don't have to do any work!
Internet Marketing
Simply put, Internet Marketing means selling stuff on the Internet. A traditional salesman goes door-to-door
and uses a convincing sales pitch to get people to buy his products. An Internet Marketer, on the other hand,
uses web pages to give a sales pitch and provides ways of ordering products online. Internet Marketers
typically sell things such as e-books, how to guides, software, educational courses, custom built web
sites, or specialized services.
My tutorial will teach you, step-by-step, how to build your own money making web site
and become an Internet Marketer yourself. I provide all the resources and training that you will need. This
web site is NOT a tutorial on how to use HTML, PHP, or any other web technologies. I assume you already know
the nuts & bolts of web page construction or can learn it yourself. This tutorial is about Internet Marketing,
not the specifics of web page creation.
Niche Market
This term refers to the overall theme of your web site. For example, my niche market for this tutorial web site is
Internet Marketing.
Before you begin building your money making web site, you must find a good niche. The smaller and more specific the niche,
the better you will do. If you pick something too general, then there will be too much competition and you won't make as much
money. For example, instead of making a web site selling e-books (way too general), make a site that sells e-books
about dogs (very specific)!
Kevin J. Rohan's FREE Internet Marketing Boot Camp teaches you how to research and find a good niche.
He gives you several tools that you can use for this purpose. I highly recommend this training course!
Site Traffic
This is simply the number of people that visit your web site in a given period of time. The higher your site traffic, the more sales
you will make and the more money you will get. After you build your site and put some good content on it, you need to work on promoting your site and increasing site traffic.
